The Blue Water Ramblers are thrilled to sing their song about the Nov. 18, 1958 shipwreck of the SS Carl D. Bradley to Frank Mays, one of the two survivors. Frank is the main speaker at a fund raiser for the Southwest Michigan Underwater Preserve. The event will be held in the West Ottawa Performing Arts Center, Harbor Lights School, 1024 136th Ave. in Holland.

The Ramblers are honored to help support our favorite folk music organization, the Grand River Folk Arts Society at the Sixth Annual Benefit Concert. We are also using this occasion to celebrate the Blue Water Ramblers 5th birthday. Cake only costs a dollar a piece and that raises money for GRFAS. Don't miss the music and don't miss the opportunity to support GRFAS.

Joining the handsome Blue Water Ramblers will be the lovely ladies of Nobody's Darlin', one of Michigan's hottest old time bands. This clash will be the latest episode in the perennial battle of the sexes. Come on out and root for your side while you support the premire folk society of Michigan.

The concert begins at 8 PM in the Baker Chapel at Grace Bible College, 1011 Aldon SW, two blocks west of Clyde Park between Burton and 28th streets. The Blue Water Ramblers will give a concert at the Mecosta County Senior Center after a chicken and biscuit dinner. This event is a fund raiser for the Meals on Wheels program. The cost is $20 per person. Call Cil at 231-972-2884 for reservations. Directions: Off US-131 take the Stanwood Exit, #131, 8 Mile Road east across old 131, past Ice Mountain to the end. Turn left and the road curves east again on Buchanan. Head due east through a 4-way stop past the Country Corner Grocery Store on your right. Turn left onto 90th Avenue at the Royal View Retirement Home on the left. Continue north to 13 Mile Road and turn right. The next stop sign at 80th Avenue. The Center is right there.

Thumbfest in Lexington. Saturday is a day long music festival on the shores of sparkling Lake Huron. At 7 PM Friday Aug. 29 the Blue Water Ramblers are on stage at the waterfront with other great groups for a pre-festival concert.

Saturday, August 30 we call a Family Dance at noon, perform on Main Stage at 4 and join the Closing Jam at 9:45.

Sunday, the day after Thumbfest, at 11 AM to noon we sing gospel songs on the Main Stage for the local church community.

We call it "Heaven on earth for pickers". It's the annual Wheatland Music Festival on Wernette's farm just a mile southwest of Remus. Join us for the best traditional American music- folk, old time, blues, Cajun, bluegrass, gospel and much more. Moms and Dads: Practice up that precocious youngster and bring the child to "Kid's Hill Open Mic" at 6 PM Saturday. The next generation is taking the stage! The Blue Water Rambler Dance Quintet will be playing the 10 AM Sunday Family Dance in the Pavilion. It's a great way to start your musical day. Dust off that mandolin and learn some hot hot licks at Tom's mando workshop.
